Here's just a small review on my point of view.
here be spoilers...
I watched this yesterday. I'm starting to really not know what I think about it. I was majorly excited for this movie before its release. I liked it but then again I was very disappointed. When I think about it now there are parts I really loved.

Visually, the film is beautiful. It captures the true nature of being a child. Max Records who plays Max is pretty amazing. It always astounds me when a kid of that age is able to act. This film is truly unique in its portrayal and just out of that Hollywood 'norm.' Which is kinda why I like it. Its originality and certain quirk about it. I do love some characters namely Carol (before he got angry), Douglas, KW, Alexander and Iris. Basically all of them except for Judith. It doesn't take long for one to realize that the Wild Things are each split into Max's characteristics and aspects of his life. Its really deep in all its metaphorical meaning. I just really love how it captures the feelings of being a child. The imagination, loneliness, happiness and sadness. Its quite lovely. What is another great thing about the film is the soundtrack by Karen O and The Kids. Her voice is amazing. I love her.
Why I didn't like it? I was expected a major epiphany of some sort. Near the end of the film I was expecting a revelation that would blow me away and just make me think "Wow, I love this film." and make cry. But it never came. Although, I did love the ending. Where they all howl, made me want to join but I didn't want to be a douche bag. The film does seem like its aimed at adults rather than children. Which isn't a bad thing, there are some scenes that will capture children's attention though it's realistic view point of children emotional mood swings. Again, it was beautifully directed but disappointing at the same time. I might watch it again to see if I like it or not.
I don't want you to go, I'll eat you up, I love you so.
